Course Description

CHC43015 - Certificate IV in Ageing Support

This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. 

Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Qualification

On the completion of this course a student will be rewarded with Certificate IV in Ageing Support.

Qualification requirements

18 units must be completed to be awarded with Certificate IV in Ageing Support:

  • 15 core units
  • 3 elective units, consisting of:
    • At least 2 units from the electives listed in this qualification
    • Up to 1 unit from the electives listed in this qualification, any endorsed Training Package or accredited course – these units must be relevant to the work outcome.

Any combination of electives that meets the rules above can be selected for the award of the Certificate IV in Ageing Support. Where appropriate, electives may be packaged to provide a qualification with a specialisation.

If this qualification contains extra units, the student will be issued a full qualification provided they have met all requirements as per relevant packaging rules.

Student will receive a Certificate and Statement of Results for the qualification and Statement of Attainment for each extra completed unit

  • Anyone who works within the industry and wants to improve their skills and knowledge in the community services area by completing a Certificate IV in Ageing Support.
  • School leavers who wants to enter Community Services Sector
  • People with personal or vocational experience in a specific industry
  • People with vocational experience in a specific industry and an industry specific qualification.

Duration

Program duration is:

Option 1:
  • 37 weeks: two days per week x 5 hours per day = 74 sessions
  • 120 hours Work Placement experience
  • 18 hours Self-paced learning, including homework
Option 2:
  • 74 weeks: one day per week x 5 hours per day = 74 sessions
  • 120 hours Work Placement experience
  • 518 hours Self-paced learning, including homework
